If you or your organisation is a manufacturer of timber based products for example furniture, door skins, mouldings, house and office fit outs, theChain of Custody Standard is the product tracking standard for YOU.
If Australian Forest Certification Scheme (AFCS) certified wood and timber based products is passing through a chain of processors to manufacturers, the Chain of Custody (CoC) standard and audits to the standard exist to ensure proof of origin. The AFCS through its AFS logo or PEFC logo provides you, your organisation and your customers with an assurance that the wood or timber based product specified for a fit out, renovation, addition or construction project has been sourced from a sustainably managed forest and tracked through the supply chain to ensure it maintains an unbroken chain of custody.
Audits of Chain of Custody must be done annually to retain certification, and the independence of these audits is assured by JAS-ANZ or IAF accredited certification bodies. AFCS certified wood and timber based products are high quality, cost effective, Australian grown, and readily available in a large range of species and products, such as decorative veneers, timber framing and flooring.
More information on Chain of Custody (CoC) is available at the I'm a Processor page.
Providing for market differentiation
Once you have successfully achieved certification to the CoC Standard from an accredited certification body. For a list of Certification Bodies Go to the Documents Download centre, you or your organisation will be able to apply for the use of the AFS logo, as a certification trade mark and/or the PEFC logo, as a registered trade mark, under a licence agreement from AFS Limited.
